This page contains the LINKS and TOOLS useful to the most Frequent Message posters on the Dallas Historical Society Message Board. If you are interested in Dallas, Click on the Message Board link above, and JOIN US!

TOOLS and HINTS: (If you have found a great hint, please eMail me and I will add it.)

The User Profile that we now have on the Dallas Historical Society Message Board has the ability for you to add your photo to your profile. You can do that in the DHS Edit Profile (new window) page. Down that page, there is a box for Optional Image URL, for you to fill in. To get this link to the Image on DHSMembers.org page, you will need to cut and paste the link as follows:

Go down the DHSMembers.org (new window) page to your image.
Right Click on your image, on this page.
Select (left click) "Properties", in the resulting Dialog Box (bottom).
On the Properties box, Click and drag (highlight) across the "Address:" (text should start with Http://dealey.org/…)
With the full text highlighted, copy it to the clipboard ( CTRL-C )
On the DHS Edit Profile page. Click in the Optional Image URL box.
Paste the link into ( CTRL-V ) the box
Click the Save Profile button, at the bottom of the page.

Your DHS Member Profile, will now include your photo off the DHSMembers.org page. (Or someone else's, if you like someone else's photo better!) These photos are small enough that they are quite nicely included in your DHS Profile. As an example, here is a link to MINE (new window).
You can even point your profile to a favorite GIF or motion graphic, as long as a link exists. Jerry 'Mickey' Dealey However, Be Careful that you trust whomever maintains a web site that your photo or graphic points to, cause if they change that image, YOUR DHS PROFILE will show the changed image! (I know people who have had pornography show up as their "Icon" on other forums this way!) Naturally, it is best if you point to a web site image that YOU control.

LINKS: (If you have found a great link, please eMail me and I will add it.)

These are the links to other pages that are of use to many of our Dallas Historical Society Members and Message Board Posters. Many of them point to various sites around the Internet that are interest to Dallas / Texas History and related subjects.

Curious about some of the Regular Message posters on the Dallas Historica Society? Jerry Dealey (me) maintains a site having Photos and Biographies of many of us. You can eMail me your information and I will be happy to put your brief biography out there as well. Plenty of room! DHSMembers.org. (new window)

Want a place to just gather and CHAT on the Internet? But do you want a place where the messages are NOT saved and NOT available to Google and other search engines? I also maintain a free CHAT room that you can use: DealeyPlaza.us (new window).

DHS regular PeterK has built a link to a USA map that allows us to put the part of the country we live in: Dallas History USA Map. (new window)

DHS regular PeterK has also opened up a YAHOO Message board. This board allows us to chat about Dallas History, as well as other subjects. The messages are saved and stored, so that others may read and enjoy the exchanges. In addition, it has the opportunity to store photos, files and other information. There is also the feature to have individual eMails to you when a message is posted, or to have Summary eMails at the end of each day. You can also turn off eMail notification. PeterK will approve your membership as quickly as he can. The site is: PeterK Dallas History. (new window)

DHS regular Scott Dorn is a photographer, whose goal is to "Photograpically Preserving Dallas one Building at a Time". He has 2 web sites, where he stores many 'sets' of his Dallas and Texas photos. He also receives many photos from Randy Carlisle, Robert Johnson and many more of us Dallas Historians. Click here for his Flickr site (new window) to see his most recent photos.
